Description
A cubist reading of the hardest morning in Peter’s life, printed on stretched canvas.
The rooster stands on the wall behind them, already finished with its work. Peter has his hands knotted together and tears cut down his face in hard blue shapes. What holds the painting is the hand. Christ reaches across the gap between them, open and unhurried, and the gesture arrives before any apology does. Both men wear halos. That choice is the whole argument of the piece: the man who denied him is already a saint in the frame where he fails.
The blue of Christ’s robe and the ochre and wine of Peter’s are the traditional colors, broken into planes with heavy black leading that borrows from stained glass. Jerusalem’s stonework fills the background in muted greens and sand, close enough to press in on both figures.
The slim 0.75″ pine frame keeps the piece floating rather than boxed in. It suits a study, a reading nook, a counseling office, or a spot where someone sits down regularly and needs the reminder. Arrives assembled with hardware mounted, ready to hang the day the box opens.
