Description
The Four Evangelists — Cubist Christian Wall Art
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John sit at one long table, quills in hand, each writing the Gospel that bears his name. Around them the ancient symbols take shape: the winged man at Matthew’s shoulder, the lion behind Mark, the ox at Luke’s side, the eagle spreading over John. A gothic rose window glows in the background. This is the tetramorph of Ezekiel and Revelation rendered in fractured planes and bold color, closer to a modernist canvas than a holy card.
Painted in deep forest green, burnt ochre, oxblood, and slate blue, with the visible brush texture of an oil original. The composition rewards a second look. There’s a quill mid-stroke, an inkwell catching light, a lamp burning between Mark and Luke, and hands rendered in overlapping angles that pull your eye across all four writers at once.
Made for the wall behind a desk, a church office, a seminary study, or a living room that could use something with more theology in it than a script-font Bible verse. The artist’s signature appears in the lower right of the image.
